Art of War

Art of War is a board game that I began designing myself in highschool. I have slowly iterated on it and created multiple prototypes of it as I have grown as a designer over the years. This game is about two galactic war leaders who disagree about which of them is the better strategist. The two decide to settle the debate by staging a war on a planet that doesn't matter, Earth. This results in a capture the flag style battle between humans controlled by the aliens. There are times the aliens interfere directly and have a huge impact on the battlefield, but at the end of the day, the victory will always go to the most dominant strategist.

Art of War was originally inspired by chess. Some classmates and I created the earliest version while trying to play a mock version of chess with a handful of army men. This led me down a path of creating a massive battlefield that entirely relies on the players positioning and use of resources, just like in Chess! I would still not consider this game complete and have not released it, but at the same time, it is a testament to my ability as a designer. I am very proud of its core mechanics and interactions and would love to talk more about it if you reach me at any of those locations listed below!
This is the board for the game that I am using to test in Table Top Simulator. This was also created using Figma
